Planning and Zoning Administrator
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and skill
Good knowledge of modern building techniques, materials and tools; good knowledge of State and local building codes and ordinances; ability to read and understand plans and specifications, deeds and deed descriptions; familiarity with land use controls and legislation; clerical ability; ability to inspect structures to determine their condition; ability to firmly enforce zoning ordinances, with issuance of violation notices and follow-ups to possible legal action by Town; ability to maintain harmonious relations with elected officials and the general public; tact and courtesy; integrity; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position; a valid driver’s license.
A. Possession of an Associate’s Degree with specialization in civil engineering, construction, technology or a related field, and one year of full-time paid experience in building construction work; OR
B. Satisfactory completion of 60 semester hours at an approved four-year college or university in a program leading to a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, construction technology, or a related field, and one year of full-time paid experience in building construction work; OR
C. Graduation from high school and three (3) years of full-time paid experience in building construction work or in a building trade such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical or related trades.
D. Experience as a qualified building inspector can be submitted for an equivalent amount of the above required experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position will be filled on a provisional basis pending the results of a Civil Service examination to be scheduled at a later date.
