Laborer – Highway Department
The Town of Greenfield is accepting applications for an entry level full-time laborer position at the Highway Department.
Starting salary: $21.22/hour
40 Hours a week plus overtime as needed
Primary duties may include but not limited to the following:
- Preform a wide variety of manual tasks related to highway construction and maintenance, such as resurfacing and reconstructing roads
- Cutting brush and mowing along roadways
- Collect road debris
- Assist snowplow operators as a wing person
- Act as a flag person, directing traffic safely through a work zone
- Clear streams and remove debris from drainage pipes, ditches etc.
- Repair and maintain catch basin
- Clean trucks and equipment
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors which may include trash removal, erecting snow fences, operating small machinery, maintaining signs etc.
- Performs heavy manual labor for prolonged periods often under adverse weather conditions
- Does related work as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to work overtime
- Must possess a valid New York State drivers license and maintain current license with a good driving record for duration of employment
