If learning to cross-country ski sounds fun, or if you already ski and are looking to polish your skills, you’ll want to attend the upcoming “lesson and lunch” program for women at Brookhaven Winter Park in Porters Corners. Sign up is here.

Instructors will provide a one-hour lesson to women grouped by experience followed by a lunch at The View Restauarant. The $40 resident/$48 non-resident cost includes equipment rental, lunch and a beverage of your choice. After lunch, ladies are welcome to ski for the afternoon at their leisure. Those not interested in Nordic skiing, may choose to snowshoe instead. The event is modeled after Greenfield’s successful golf “lesson & lunch” for women, held multiple times last summer.

“It’s fun to invite ladies out to enjoy time together,” said Recreation Director Jennifer Zeisler. “Whether you are trying something new or wanting to improve, we hope you’ll join us for a day of exercise outdoors and a unique social gathering with friends. Nordic skiing is such great exercise and there’s no better place to try it than at Brookhaven Winter Park.”

Brookhaven Winter Park is the Town of Greenfield’s free Nordic ski and snowshoe park. This year the park added a winter rental and gift shop, Thursdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday night our shop is open until 6 p.m.  Guests may rent both Nordic skis or snowshoes on a first-come, first-serve basis. The park features seven cross-country trails and two snowshoe loops, a total of 20 kilometers of trails.
