The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors awarded a “Certificate of Appreciation” to Greenfield resident Amelia Juracka, for her recent recogition as a Girl Scouts of America Medal of Honor recipient.
The now 12-year-old girl received the award for her lifesaving efforts in the summer of 2023, when she saved her two-year-old cousin from drowning. Juracka received water safety training at Hidden Lake Girl Scout Camp in Lake Luzerne.
Only 215 girl scouts nationally have received this award since 2017, according to the Girl Scouts of Northeastern N.Y. Pictured above, Board of Supervisors Chairman Phil Barrett and Greenfield Town Supervisor Kevin Veitch presented Juracka with the certificate at the September meeting.
Supervisor Veitch said, “We are proud to call you a Greenfielder and a resident of Saratoga County. Your bravery and ability to act responsibly under extreme pressure (at such a young age) will take you very far and I know you will continue to be a model citizen and have a very bright successful future.”
Congrats to Amelia Juracka!
