Charles Veeder: Repping Many Local Businesses: Arnold’s Produce, Nally Coffee Roaster, Farmer T, Sundaes Best

A Closer Look at a Greenfield Summer Market Merchant

Greenfield’s Farmers Market is filled with local businesses giving it a go, from maple syrup to handbags and hotdogs. But one entrepreneurial, community-loving gentleman named Charles Veeder goes a bit above and beyond.

Charles Veeder of Middle Grove is a busy man. But never too busy for his community. Veeder works as an owner of CV Golf, offering custom clubs, repair and golf instruction in Saratoga, and is also the treasurer of the Middle Grove Methodist Church. When the farmers market could no longer be managed by the Greenfield Historical Society during the pandemic, he happily offered to take it on. He moved the market to the church parking lot at 429 Middle Grove Rd. and worked tirelessly to keep it afloat. But he always had a big dream of growing it into a larger community event.

Greenfield’s new Recreation Director Jen Zeisler, along with the support of Town Supervisor Kevin Veitch, shared that dream. The result was a revamped market that is bigger and better than ever.

“The market is becoming more of a community gathering,” Veeder said. “We really wanted it to be more of a place where neighbors can gather together and talk. I am so appreciative that the town shares this vision.”

While helping to recruit vendors, Veeder found that many local businesses lack the staff to attend the summer markets so he found a way to help. Looking for creative ways to fundraise for his church, he offers local businesses the opportunity to sell products at the market, while donating a bit of the proceeds to the Middle Grove Methodist Church to use for its winter fuel oil bill. It’s quite a win, win situation.

Because of his ingenuity, shoppers can find local produce, pickles, hot fudge sauce and coffee. Here’s what Veeder offers at the market:

Arnold’s Produce of West Charlton with seasonal veggies and fruits.

Greenfield’s own Farmer T’s gourmet fresh pickles.

Greenfield native Sundaes Best Hot Fudge Sauce.

Nally Coffee of Schenectady, with fresh, local roasted coffee beans.

Veeder is happy to assist any local businesses who would like to arrange for him to sell product each Thursday at the Greenfield Farmers Market. He can be reached at 518-421-1798 or cvgolfbiz@gmail.com.
