We Greenfielders love our open space and supporting our local businesses and charities. Did you know that you can visit, volunteer and donate to a place that provides a dignified retirement for Thoroughbreds on Sandhill Road? Embrace your “Saratoga Summer” enthusiasm by visiting this local 501c(3) at 483 Sandhill Rd. any Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. for a tour. No registration needed and no cost of admission, but donations are appreciated.

Residents Joann and Mark Pepper opened this facility as a New York location for Old Friends, Inc. in Georgetown, Kentucky 14 years ago.  It is a sanctuary where many thoroughbreds (some of them famous) enjoy their retirement from racing. This nonprofit operates 100% on volunteers and donations and, in addition to its tours, hosts many events throughout the year.

Don’t miss the Party on the Farm August 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (We’ve included many photos from similar events.) The fundraising event features food trucks, raffles, a silent auction, tours and other activities like story times and live music.  There is no admission charge for the event and any money spent on food, drink or other activities directly benefits the cause.
