Town Supervisor Visits With Greenfield Elementary School Principal Tina Davis
Town Supervisor Kevin Veitch had a great meeting with Greenfield Elementary School Principal Dr. Tina Davis recently. Davis gave a tour of all the wonderful recent updates to the school campus. The recent phase of the capital improvements from the “Legacy Project,” approved by the Saratoga Springs School Board in 2020, brought many vast upgrades to the school, which originally opened in 1962.
It’s certain that anyone travelling by the school has noticed the major construction. Check out the photo gallery with some pictures of the enhancements, which include expanded parking and a new, safer parent drop-off loop; beautiful landscaping; a separate, secure vestibule for visitors; two entirely renovated Connections classrooms for students with special needs; and new state-of-the-art furniture for students in both kindergarten and fifth grade. Next summer, four more classrooms will be redesigned and provided with new furniture. In addition, there will be a support center added that will include offices for the school social worker and the school psychologist. The front of the school’s stage will be refinished as well. Davis said she also expects more classrooms will be outfitted with new furniture next year.
The two leaders discussed improving the way the town government partners with its elementary school including sharing more information with families of the nearly 400 students about healthy recreation programs, establishing more clubs and excursions to Town properties like Brookhaven Park & Golf Course and Brookhaven Winter Park, increasing Town Hall presence at school events, partnering to help with needed donations, collaborating during emergency situations, and more.
Supervisor Veitch is looking to meet with other local businesses to see how our local government can help its residents. Stay tuned to read more and don’t hesitate to contact us at 518-893-7432, ext. 308 to set up a meeting.
