TOG Holds Inaugural Community Day Celebration at Middle Grove Park 5/17

MIDDLE GROVE, N.Y. – The Town of Greenfield will hold its first Community Day Celebration on Saturday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Middle Grove Park at 428 Middle Grove Rd. The event, described as a “red, white and blue barbecue,” will feature commemorative “TOG Better TOGether” t-shirts for $15. Sponsors will be listed on the back. (photo provided.)

Food and drinks will be sold and there will be a special appearance by many Greenfield Farmers Market vendors. There will be fire trucks, fire hoses, and an inflatable obstacle course for the children. Other fun will include:

  • Wear your red, white and blue (or purchase a commemorative TOG t-shirt) to show community support. Purchase ahead by calling 518-893-7432, ext. 307 or emailing jzeisler@greenfieldny.org.
  • Kids (and adults) can enjoy the inflatable obstacle course, lawn games, magic show, and more.
  • Live music from Natalie of Nocturnne.
  • Hamburgers, hotdogs, and pizza for sale.
  • Shop and snack at the approximately 20 local vendor booths, including Greenfield Farmers Market vendors and other businesses, who will sell merchandise and food.
  • The Greenfield Grange #807 will hold a food drive to benefit the Greenfield Food Pantry. They are looking for any donations but especially need perishable and non-perishable food items, paper and cleaning products, hygiene items, baby needs, and pet needs. The Grange is also selling baked goods at the event to benefit the Food Pantry. More info here.

  • Catch a sneak preview of the town’s four new pickle ball courts, which are opening soon.

  • Children can play at the Middle Grove Park playground and families may enjoy our 1/2-mile paved walking and biking trail.

  • Local artist Maxine Tucker will be present showcasing her upcoming “With My Own Two Hands” art show, featuring paintings of actual Greenfield residents at work in the community. The free exhibit will be held June 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greenfield Firehouse at 13 S. Greenfield Rd. She’ll be working on an oil painting of Town Supervisor Kevin Veitch.

“This new event will bring our neighbors together for a day of celebration, connection and fun,” said Town Supervisor Kevin Veitch. “TOG (Town of Greenfield) residents love the chance to gather and support our local businesses. Community pride is at an all-time high and we cannot wait to make this an annual tradition.”

“We can’t wait to see our local families at this special community party,” Recreation Director Jen Zeisler said. “This giant patriotic picnic will be the perfect kick-off to summer, our nation’s patriotic holidays and our TOG summer farmers market.”

TOG’s Farmers Market will run weekly from Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Middle Grove Park. from June 19 to Sept. 18. Dozens of vendors are lined up including produce, gift items, maple products, flowers, clothes, snacks and various food vendors and entertainment each week.

The Town of Greenfield is home to 8,200 residents in Greenfield, Porter Corners, Middle Grove, Lake Desolation and Maple Ave. It spans more than 41,000 acres of land bordering the Adirondacks and is the largest town in Saratoga County, by square mile.
