The Town of Greenfield will hold a “Sip & Shop” event at Brookhaven Golf Course, 333 Alpine Meadows Rd., from 10-3 p.m. on Nov. 30. The new holiday bazaar will combine a winter market and a holiday social opportunity that is free to the public. The event will benefit the Greenfield Elementary School Home School Association, its parent teacher group.
The businesses themselves have suggested the town hold the event, after a successful summer Farmers Market that concluded in September. Booths will be sprinkled around The View Restaurant, which will be transformed into a cozy, winter bazaar. There will be food and drink specials, so patrons can enjoy a snack or lunch before, during or after they shop. The event is for all ages. Booths will feature stocking stuffers and specialty gifts including art, jewelry, artisan wood products, local food items and more. The town will sell a new “TOG: Better TOGether” apparel, as well as Brookhaven Winter Park merchandise.
“We know our residents will love finding perfect hometown gifts on this special day,” Recreation Director Jen Zeisler said. “This fun shopping event will support our local business and elementary school without having to deal with the crowds and traffic.”
Businesses are asked to call 518-893-7432, ext. 307 to sign up for a $20 booth and/or donate items for the lavish holiday gift baskets, that will be raffled off during the event.
“We are trying to find creative ways to drive holiday traffic to our small businesses,” said Town Supervisor Kevin Veitch. “Their success means a lot to us. TOG residents are proud to be from our rural town and want their neighbors to succeed.”
Town Recreation also is planning a “Tree-Lighting Ceremony” at Town Hall Dec. 5, complete with cocoa, caroling, Santa & Mrs. Claus and Fierro’s Pizzeria’s woodfired pizza truck. On Jan. 25, the TOG Winterfest & 5K Snowshoe Race will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brookhaven Golf Course. This event features a snowshoe race, horse drawn sleigh rides (weather pending), contests, story time, music and more. Register for the race online. Snowshoes will be available to borrow.
The Town of Greenfield is home to 8,200 residents and spans more than 41,000 acres of land, making it the largest town in Saratoga County, by square mile. In the winter its Brookhaven Golf Course transforms into a free snowshoe and alpine skiing park with more than 20 km of groomed trails for all skill levels.
