Middle Grove Town Park
Middle Grove Park is located at 430 Middle Grove Road. Spread over 12+ acres there is a Pavilion with Restroom Facilities, Tennis Courts, Basketball Court, Soccer Fields, Softball Field and a Walking Trail. It is home to the Greenfield Farmer’s Market which is held on Friday afternoons from 4PM to 6PM.
The Pavilion can be reserved by Town Residents free of charge by contacting the Town Clerk’s Office. There is a $50. Refundable Cleaning Deposit. The fee for Non-Residents is $50.
Kings Station & Caboose
The Park is located approximately 2 miles North of the Hamlet of Greenfield Center on State Route 9N.
In 1865 the Adirondack Railroad was formed and began building tracks across Greenfield with stations at Kings, South Corinth, Corinth, Hadley and North Creek. By 1871, the Railroad reached North Creek. The Adirondack Railroad was sold to the D & H in 1889. Passenger service ran from New York City to the Adirondack Branch of the D & H. By 1890 one train made two daily round trips from Saratoga to North Creek. Most of the freight service carried lumber and paper.
In 2007 a Committee was appointed by the Town Board to determine what repairs would be necessary to make the caboose structurally sound and maintain its historical significance, as well as develop a plan for future public use. Committee members volunteered their services and spent countless hours renovating the Caboose and King’s Station, helping to create a Town landmark to be enjoyed by all. A Caboose Day Celebration is held annually.
