In our age of convenience, now even library books are being delivered. Even in rural Greenfield! There is a Saratoga Springs Public Library “On the Road Program” going on this summer and “Little Free Libraries” are also popping up around town.
The mobile library has two more dates this summer at Porter Corners Fire Co. August 17 and 31 from 10 a.m. until noon, the library-on-wheels will be set up at 405 Bockes Rd. They will have new and popular books, games and activities at each event. You can check things out from the van just like you would at the Saratoga Springs Public Library. The event is for kids, teens and grownups.
New at 200 Hyspot Rd., is a “Little Free Library,” is part of the national nonprofit of book-exchange boxes sprouting up across the country. (It’s pictured below.) There are more than 150,000 nationwide and the goal is make books accessible to everyone. Greenfield’s first little library is located across the street from Twin Leaf Farms and the custom-designed box will hold nearly 150 books. Books may be borrowed or shared by visiting any time.
Coming soon, The Flower Paddock at White Thistle Farm, plans to open a little free library at its roadside flower shop at the corner of Wilton and Braim Roads. Greenfield Girl Scout Troop 3613, a group of 6th and 7th graders, will begin building a little library this fall. The project was been approved to be placed at Town Hall.
